Oil on linen panel

10 ½ x 10 ½ (frame, wood, matte black)

The imagery in this small-scale painting is inspired by where I live and work in Woodstock, Vermont, however it is not a literal representation. In this series of work, the paintings are manifestations of visual experiences outside my studio doors, views from hiking trails on our hills, and sights along walks through highland meadows. Surface and texture are an integral part of the created imagery. Painted in oil on linen panels that have a hard, resistant surface, I work with the texture of the weave, often scraping the surface and leaving visible parts of the architecture of the canvas to become part of the compositions.
