About the paintings
The landscape paintings are depictions of where I live and work in Woodstock, Vermont, however they are not literal depictions; they are memories or reductions of visual experiences outside my studio doors, views from hiking trails, and sights along walks through highland meadows. Painted in oil on linen panels that have a hard, resistant surface, I like working with the texture of the weave, often leaving visible parts of the architecture of the canvas. In this work, surface and texture are an integral part of the created imagery.
